Despite how the regular season ended for the Dallas Stars, there were many accomplishments to be celebrated. The Stars were one of the best teams in the NHL for the second half of the season, finishing only behind the Presidents' Trophy Winning Winnipeg Jets in the Central Division. Another accomplishment that was on the radar but was not reached was 400 career goals for Jaimie Benn. The Stars captain failed to reach the mark, falling one shy, and will have to wait until next season to tally the mark.

Jaimie Benn has been the cornerstone of the franchise throughout his 16-year career with the Stars. By the time he calls it quits, he will be surely one of the best ever to dawn the Kelly Green sweater. While he has reached many milestones throughout his illustrious career, one that he failed to accomplish this season was the mark of 400 goals. Benn has been sitting on 399 goals since March 8th, and his luck did not get any better as he was originally credited with the score before the Lian Bichsel was given the goal. Reaching the mark will place Benn in elite franchise company with Mike Modano as the only Stars players to score 400 goals.

While the Dallas captain waits until next season to reach the milestone, he will have more important things to set his sights on as the Stars will kick off their first round playoff series with the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday. The Stars ended the season on a seven-game losing streak, the longest the team as suffered since moving to Dallas from Minnesota in 1993. Dallas will look to play flip the script as they aim for a third-straight Western Conference Final appearance, while also surpassing that mark to make their first Stanley Cup appearance since 2020.
