From The Silky Mitten State: With Patrick Kane back after missing about a month due to injury, what is fair to expect of him upon his return?

On Saturday afternoon, Patrick Kane played his first game in almost a month, skating 17:11 in the Red Wings' 4-3 overtime win over the Canucks.  He picked up an assist on a Daniel Sprong goal and led Detroit in individual expected goals with 0.311.  However, Kane also finished the night with just a 7.6% share of on-ice expected goals at five-on-five, well below the standard he'd set for himself in his initial run of form with the Red Wings.

For the season, Kane has now played 20 games in the Winged Wheel, scoring seven goals and providing 10 assists along the way.  However, by his own admission, Saturday's game was closer to a starting point than an end product.  When asked to review his first game back, Kane told The Hockey News yesterday that it was  "Pretty good," before adding "I think maybe a little tentative to start, haven't played in about a month.  I think it's four weeks today that the injury happened.  Just try to get better every game, better every day, and work my way back to feeling 100%."

On the most recent episode of The Silky Mitten State, my co-host Connor Earegood and I discussed what is reasonable to expect of Kane coming out of this injury.  You can get a sample of that conversation by watching the featured video above.
