Detroit Red Wings forward J.T. Compher missed the team's Thursday night 6-5 OT loss to the San Jose Sharks, and his status for Saturday's home date with the Ottawa Senators.
At the Red Wings' practice Friday afternoon, Compher participated in a non-contact gray jersey. He took reps during the power play and penalty kill portions of the practice, which provides some reason for optimism.
However, when asked after practice about Compher's availability, coach Derek Lalonde said, "it will probably be a tomorrow decision to see how he responds from today. He was in and out on some reps there. I think it was a positive considering he has not skated the last two days."
Compher has six goals and 13 assists for 19 points in 24 games this season, including a two-goal effort last Thursday against Chicago.
