The latest episode of THN Detroit's hit podcast, The Silky Mitten State, is live!

On this week's show, my co-host Connor Earegood and I get started by talking about a classic contrived summertime sports radio debate: Which player would you rather have for your franchise moving forward—Lucas Raymond or Alexis Lafreniere?

After kicking that question around for a while, we move into a discussion of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final between the Panthers and Rangers.  We discuss what impressed us most about Florida's game (hint: defense, goaltending, swagger), and both of us expressed doubt as to New York's ability to win four of the next six games over a Panther team playing as well as it is.

From there, we look ahead to the Western Conference Final between Dallas and Edmonton, exploring the contrasting styles between the Oilers' star power and the Stars' depth.  Connor makes the case that Edmonton's firepower will be enough to out-duel the Stars, while I argue that depth and goaltending will win the day for Dallas.

Then, we touch on a few developing stories from the world of college hockey, including potential NCAA eligibility for CHL players and Cullen Potter's decision to skip his second year with the NTDP and head to Arizona State.

Finally, we close the show with a conversation about the Griffins' playoff run and which Grand Rapids forwards might find their way onto the Red Wings opening night roster.
