Detroit's season is set to begin on October 10th on home ice against Pittsburgh

Thanks to a video starring color commentator Mickey Redmond, goaltender Alex Lyon, and a variety of dogs from around the Detroit organization, the Red Wings' 2024-25 regular season schedule is officially public knowledge.

Detroit's season will begin on home ice on October 10th, hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins.  The Wednesday of Thanksgiving has become an unofficial holiday for Red Wing fans, set aside for a home game, and this year is no exception with the Calgary Flames in town.  Detroit will then host New Jersey in a Black Friday matinee.  The Red Wings will also continue their tradition of hosting a game on New Years Eve, with the Penguins once again coming to town.

Other highlights on the schedule include Detroit's "Stadium Series" game against the Blue Jackets, outdoors at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, which will be held on the first of March.  March will also bring the team's first every games against the newly minted Utah Hockey Club, first at home on the sixth of the month before the Wings' first ever trip to Salt Lake City on the 24th.  The season will wrap in mid-April with a run of three games in four days—vs. Dallas on the 14th, at New Jersey on the 16th, and at  Toronto on the 17th.
