Detroit Red Wings’ GM Steve Yzerman has experience with both. The original trade to acquire Jake Walman was a home run, while the deal that sent the same player packing to the San Jose Sharks was a strikeout.

On Monday, Yzerman was able to right one of his wrongs from the previous Free Agency Frenzy by sending Vladimir Tarasenko to the Minnesota Wild. Then, he made good on another bet he had made.
Sometime after the trade was made official, Yzerman pushed a great contract across the finish line.
The Red Wings agreed to terms with youngster Albert Johansson. The defender and the team agreed to a two-year, $1.125 million contract. That’s incredible value for a promising young blueliner who had a great season.
While he only recorded nine points in 66 games, that barely scratches the surface on the contributions of Johansson. He averaged 16:22 per game and played the majority of his time alongside Simon Edvinsson.
Now, Red Wings fans wait to see what else the day will bring.
