After his current deal expires, will it make sense for Shayne Gostisbehere to stick around in Detroit

Shayne Gostisbehere signed in Detroit over the summer to fill a clear void in the Red Wing blue line as the team's power play quarterback. That he is fully comfortable playing on the right side as a left-shot defenseman was an added bonus.
As a Red Wing, Gostsibehere has delivered the kind of power play impact he promised as a free agent, while playing sheltered third pairing minutes at five-on-five (of late, almost exclusively beside Olli Maatta). Gostsibehere has nine goals and 39 assists in 60 games with Detroit.
However, while the signing has generally been a fit and success, with Gostisbehere filling the role he arrived to, when his contract expires this summer, it's not clear whether it makes sense for the veteran blue liner to stick around Detroit.
In Jake Walman and Moritz Seider, the Red Wings have two players on their current NHL roster that could fill his PP quarterback role, and in Simon Edvinsson and Axel Sandin Pellikka, Detroit has two prospects who project to do so in the future. Therefore, Gostisbehere might prove a luxury item the Red Wings can no longer afford within the salary cap.
On the most recent episode of The Silky Mitten State, Connor Earegood and I discussed the question of Gostisbehere's future in Detroit. Here's a sample of that conversation:
