The Edmonton Oilers have been busy.
Part of that has been out of necessity, as the injuries just keep piling up. But GM Stan Bowman is also looking ahead to the future, staying active on the international and college free agent markets as seasons draw to a close across the hockey world. He struck again on Saturday night, signing right winger Quinn Hutson away from Boston University.

Hutson, the older brother of Canadiens rookie Lane and Capitals prospect Cole, wasted no time in coming to Edmonton after his Terriers lost in the National Championship game over the weekend. The undrafted 23-year-old will make his NHL debut for the Oilers on Monday night against the Los Angeles Kings.
The elder Hutson led a stacked BU team in scoring in his final season, outscoring highly touted prospects such as Cole Eiserman (NYI), Ryan Greene (CHI), Tom Willander (VAN), Sascha Boumedienne (2025), and his brother Cole, as well as former Oiler Shane Lachance. His 50 points were second in the Hockey East conference, while his 23 goals ranked fourth.

EDMONTON – Mark Messier loves Edmonton.
Hutson signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Oilers, the first year of which will be burned as he plays in the team's final two games. Hutson is ineligible for the 2025 playoffs, making this a brief audition for 2025-26.
"I think [Edmonton] is the best spot for me to have a good opportunity and develop the most as a hockey player," Hutson told the media after Monday's morning skate. "I just want to show that I can play here."
Hutson isn't the only addition to the Oilers' lineup on Monday. Defenseman Josh Brown was called up from Bakersfield to cover for the injured Troy Stecher, necessitating the demotions of Noah Philp and Derek Ryan, while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins returns for the lineup after missing the past three games with an illness.
While the Oilers locked up a playoff spot with their win over Winnipeg on Sunday, their work isn't done yet. Two points behind the Los Angeles Kings in the Pacific Division, a win over L.A. on Monday would bring them into a tie, with a shot at home ice in their first-round matchup still on the table. Edmonton has two games left in the regular season, while the Kings have three.
The Oilers and Kings get underway at Rogers Place at 8:00, on Prime Video.
