Connor McDavid is leaving Auston Matthews in the dust this season.
EDMONTON -- Connor McDavid can't stop doing what Connor McDavid does.

The Edmonton Oilers captain has done nothing but break records since he entered the league. He's been doing more of the same this season.
One of the most impressive feats he will (most certainly) achieve this season is surpassing the 100 assists mark. The last time a player had 100 or more assists in a season was Wayne Gretzky for the Los Angeles Kings back in 1990-91. Gretzky recorded 122 assists that season.
With 12 games left this year, McDavid will certainly hit the 100 assist milestone. What's more impressive than hitting 100 assists? Every other player that he's leaving in the dust.
Auston Matthews is having an impressive season. Not everyone can score 60 goals in a season, and he's one away from achieving that benchmark for the second time in his career. Why bring up Matthews if he is having such a great season?
Great question. The answer is relatively simple.
McDavid has as many assists as Matthews has points. One more time for the people in the back, McDavid has as many assists as Matthews has points. Matthews has 93 points this year, McDavid has 93 assists.
Nothing will take away Matthews' accomplishments in the NHL - he has always been known for his shot and the rate at which he scores goals. But when it's all said and done, and you look at the points and the impact of both players on their respective teams, McDavid comes out on top.
