The Edmonton Oilers captain has hit another historic moment of his career.

EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers are facing the Detroit Red Wings at Rogers Place tonight. The Oilers looked a little shaky through the first 40 minutes - but all that changed in the third period.

Dylan Holloway potted a goal 44 seconds into the third period. It was his third goal of the season - with Evan Bouchard and Connor McDavid assisting.

With his 53rd assist of the season McDavid set another milestone of his career. His assist on Holloway's goal became his 600th career assist.

In all of NHL history only three players have notched 600 assists faster than McDavid; Wayne Gretzky (416 games), Mario Lemieux (514) and Bobby Orr (608). McDavid is playing in his 616th game of his career.

It shouldn't be surprising that McDavid has hit another milestone this season. He's an incredibly special player and generational talent.

After this record setting assist he added yet another assist to his total for tonight's game. Halfway through the third period McDavid presently has four assists in the game.
