The Edmonton Oilers could target a few forwards that play for the Detroit Red Wings.

Aside from Ken Holland being the former Red Wings general manager, that's not all that these two teams have in common. There are a few former Oilers currently playing on the Red Wings - one of whom the Oilers should definitely consider trading for.
Goal scoring has been an issue since returning from the break. The Oilers could solidify their forward depth by taking a swing on two forwards from the Red Wings - one old Oiler, and another who was rumored to be in their sights this past off season.
Daniel Sprong is having himself a good season for the Winged Wheel. While he isn't on pace to break his career high in points - he's not that far off.

Last year he amassed 46 points in 66 games for the Seattle Kraken while averaging 11:25 a game. This year he has 14 goals, 19 assists for 33 points in 51 games. His ice time is also up with him skating 12:42 on average per game.
He would be a great addition to the middle six, who has a shoot-first mentality. Having him as a third line winger would be a big win for the Oilers.
The Red Wings have a great player in David Perron. The former Oiler is finding his groove with his team, as a complimentary winger and agitator.
He's not breaking any recordings with offensive production this year (24 points in 45 games). However, he brings a lot of grit and "jam" to his game - while being able to move up and down the line up as needed.

It's been a long time since he donned an Oilers jersey - but the last full season he played with the Oilers resulted in him scoring his career high 28 goals.
For a team wanting to boost the scoring depth of their forward group, these are two players who should be heavily considered.

While some may be clamouring for the return of Klim Kostin to the Oilers - he doesn't provide this team with something they don't already have.
