EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers have two of the greatest players in the NHL today.

Leon Draisaitl is achieving incredible feats left, right and center. However, it's the team captain - Connor McDavid who is truly blowing the doors off of history.
Last night against the Calgary Flames, McDavid recorded two assists in the team's 4-2 win over their provincial rivals. That brings his totals this season to 31 goals and 99 assists, and a combined 130 points.
With those assists in the bag, he is now the sixth player to record 130+ points for at least two consecutive seasons. But that's not the accomplishment that I'm looking at today.
McDavid has collected at least 30 goals and 60 assists for eight straight seasons. There is only one other player who has achieved that level of consistent greatness.
Wayne Gretzky. That's it, that's the list.
In total, Gretzky did that for 13 consecutive seasons. Sidney Crosby, Jaromir Jagr, Steve Yzerman and Mario Lemieux have all had 30 goal and 60 assist seasons - but never for eight consecutive seasons. Two to three in a row, at the most.
It will be fascinating to see how the rest of the 2023-24 season unfolds - and just what other records McDavid can shatter by then.
