Last night the Edmonton Oilers took the Colorado Avalanche to the woodshed with a 6-2 final score. It was an incredible effort from the entire team. They led from 8:55 of the second period on to the final buzzer.
They never let their foot off the gas with 17 shots in the first period, 14 in the second and 16 in the third period. The Avalanche finished with 23 shots to the Oilers 47.
Elsewhere in the NHL, the Arizona Coyotes were playing the Vegas Golden Knights. Things were going about as well as you would expect for the reigning Stanley Cup Champions - until the final frame.
Carrying a 4-1 lead into the third period, the Golden Knights had a collapse of epic proportions.

At 8:19 of the third Josh Doan (son of Shane Doan) got the offensive ball rolling with his third goal in five games. From there it was all downhill for the Golden Knights, as the Coyotes scored six goals on 10 shots to complete the upset.
The Golden Knights thought they had a break when it seemed like they had scored their fifth goal of the game. However it was called back - which gave the Coyotes even more momentum.
Former Oilers forward Nick Bjugstad also got in on the scoring, chipping in his 22nd goal of the campaign. Bjugstad has eight points in his last eight games and is up to 45 points in 75 games this year.
The Coyotes win the season series against the Golden Knights two games to one. After last night's games the Oilers sit in second in the Pacific Division with 97 points while the Golden Knights are at 92. The Oilers have seven games left while the Golden Knights have six.
