Connor McDavid has a few good choices to pass the Stanley Cup to first (if the Edmonton Oilers win), but one of them is a slam dunk option.

When the Edmonton Oilers' captain entered the NHL, he took on the burden of an entire city. An entire fanbase thirsting for their sixth Stanley Cup, a return to glory.
They are one win away from having that dream realized.

Should the Oilers win tomorrow night, McDavid will shoulder a new burden. Fortunately for him, he won't have to carry it for long.
Every time a Stanley Cup is awarded to a team, one of the most talked about moments is who the captain hands the cup to first. Fortunately for the Oilers captain, there is a very clear frontrunner for who he should hand the Cup to first.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is the longest serving Oilers' player. No one on the Oilers roster has seen as much heartache and disappointment as he has. He was around for the decade of darkness. He has seen countless coaches and numerous general managers pass through the organization.
He's been there through it all.

The consensus choice is typically the player who has gone the longest without a Stanley Cup or whoever the longest serving member of the team is. Sam Gagner and Adam Henrique are the players on the team who have played the longest without winning a Stanley Cup. While they are fine options to bestow this honor on, Nugent-Hopkins is the clear favorite.
Nugent-Hopkins is the most indispensable member of the team. He plays on the power play, penalty kill and big even strength minutes. He is one of the most likeable guys on the roster, and his dedication to the organization and his teammates is unmatched.

Should the Oilers pull off their storybook comeback, he is the first guy McDavid should hand the Stanley Cup to.
