Corey Perry achieved a career milestone in a way that is very 'Corey Perry.'
EDMONTON -- They may have lost the game, but they didn't lose their spirit.
The Edmonton Oilers were out-shot 43-34 by the Colorado Avalanche last night. Luckily for the Oilers - they only lost by one goal.

However disappointing this 3-2 overtime loss was - there were a few positives to glean from it.
One was the chippy-nature of the game. Despite several infractions not being called (or seen) the Oilers didn't retaliate - they were just as chippy back to the Avalanche.
Recent acquisition Sam Carrick scored his ninth goal of the year - and first as an Oiler. It was memorable for another reason as well.
Corey Perry recorded his 900th career assist on the play - in a way that only he could.
Perry lost his stick behind the Avalanche net. His reaction? Kick the puck to Mattias Janmark, who throws the puck to the net. Carrick was there to whack the puck into the back of the net.
Given the intensity of the game, and everything surrounding how that play worked itself out - it's safe to say that both players will remember that goal for a long time.
