Darnell Nurse has updated his trade list and a potential blockbuster move to San Jose is now possible. Will it happen?
** Update:
Elliotte Friedman is now reporting: " This is how things appear to be unfolding: Nurse to SJ. Shakir Mukhamadullin will be part the return
There will be no retention by the Oilers. We await the final picture."
Several sources are reporting on Wednesday afternoon that Darnell Nurse has expanded his list of teams he's willing to accept a trade to. It's not 100 percent known if the San Jose Sharks are on that list, but it is believed they are.
That could change everything as the Sharks have been circling a Nurse trade for some time.
Elliotte Friedman writes, "There is word this afternoon Darnell Nurse has agreed to expand his list of teams he will accept a trade to. San Jose is one to watch. We will see where it goes."
Ryan Rishaug adds, "Sounds like Nurse has expanded his list of teams and San Jose now included. Oilers have some irons in the fire on him."
The Sharks were busy on Wednesday, adding Mason Marchment at forward and Jacob Trouba as a defenseman, both in free agency. Still, the Sharks could use a top-four left-shot d-man and they have plenty of cap room to take on Nurse's $9.25 million salary.
With over $24 million left, it would be an easy fit.
It was coming as a bit of a surprise that Nurse wasn't open to adding San Jose to his list, given that they are considered one of the best up-and-coming teams in the league. This is a club that intends to make a push this season and they've got some incredible young pieces that could make the Sharks a contender as early as this coming season.
