Ask any parent who struggled to get pregnant or remain pregnant, and most will echo the same sentiment. But, more often than not, they will say that it was worth it to have a child.
For former Edmonton Oilers forward David Perron and his wife Vanessa, the road to the birth of their fourth child is now complete.
But it wasn't easy.
The couple announced the birth of their fourth child on Instagram last night. David's wife, Vanessa, was the first to break the news with her post.
"Elizabeth Perron. Born on October 27th after a long delivery," her post began. "She's our little miracle and is already a fighter. We will be updating about her health at some point but would appreciate to keep our focus on our family at the moment."
"Keep praying for our little angel."
David shared the same photo of little Elizabeth in his Instagram stories, accompanied by the song, "I Get To Love You" by the artist, Ruelle.

The announcement of her birth comes just over a month after the couple revealed a major health concern. On October 5th she shared a post on Instagram detailing the crisis.
"At 30 weeks I found out she had a large congenital pulmonary airway malformation," Vanessa revealed via Instagram. "While in Toronto she got procedure to implant shunts (drain) in her lungs in vitro. We were lucky enough that most of the mass did shrink enough not to put her life in danger while I was still pregnant."
"She will most likely need to go under for a major open surgery at birth," Vanessa admits. "The risks are big."
While her new post doesn't reveal if the open surgery happened, both Vanessa and Elizabeth are healthy at the time of this writing.
