EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers aren't the only frustrated team.
The Boston Bruins are on the verge of being eliminated by the Florida Panthers following a 3-2 loss - to bring the Panthers to a 3-1 series lead on the Bruins. The next game in the series will be on Tuesday May 14th in Florida.
Following the emotional game, former Oilers' forward Pat Maroon spoke to the media. Apparently there have been debates on his effectiveness on the team - and if he is contributing every way that he can in order to help his team win hockey games.
Pat Maroon. At the beginning of the clip, he addresses an un-voiced question, "I'm sure everyone's wondering why I haven't done anything."
After this statement, he seemed to be emotional - to a certain degree. Maroon revealed the tightrope he's trying to walk, "everyone's looking to me to do something - I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. I don't want to put my team in jeopardy. I don't want to take a suspension. I don't want to put my team on the penalty kill."
"I'm doing everything I can."
Apparently a narrative has emerged this playoff round - and Maroon is hoping to extinguish that, "it's frustrating that you guys are trying to do a narrative right now, for f***ing nothing - to be honest."
"We gotta win a f***ing hockey game."
At the end of the day, that's what it comes down to for any and all players - winning hockey games.
