Edmonton Oilers will need to eliminate the Vancouver Canucks sooner rather than later to avoid playing against Thatcher Demko.
EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers are looking for their second win in their second round series against the Vancouver Canucks.

After dropping Game one, they look to continue their forward momentum - with their first game against the Canucks on home ice. If the crowd in Vancouver is any indication, it should be a lively event in Edmonton tonight.
While Arturs Silovs has been the starter for the first two games - Thatcher Demko is their ace who's itching to get back into game action. The Vezina Trophy nominated goalie would bring a tremendous boost to his team.
That makes today's update on his condition a bit concerning for the Oilers.
It looks like Demko is now taking shots at practice, as of this morning. Considering how intense these games against the Canucks have been, I'd suspect that Demko will stress as the starter before Game seven is through.
This could put a bigger pep in their step - a little extra juice to end the series before Demko can even become a factor.
This series has now become a best of five - as a result of the split in Vancouver. The next two games here in Edmonton are most certainly must-win scenarios for the Oilers.
