Hall was part of a three-way blockbuster trade earlier this season, going from the basement-dwelling Chicago Blackhawks to the playoff-bound Hurricanes.
“I feel like it’s been a good fit and I’ve really enjoyed it,” Hall said to reporters before the Hurricanes’ Game 5 against the Washington Capitals on Thursday night. “The whole coaching staff, the way that we do things around here, the way our practices are, the way the workouts are, the training staff, all of that is kind of under Rod’s umbrella.”

Hall has enjoyed things so much, that he signed an extension with the Hurricanes after the first round of the playoffs.
Rod Brind’Amour is a Jack Adams-winning head coach. He’s had a long, successful career, first as a player and now as the coach of the Hurricanes.
Hall detailed part of Brind’Amour’s approach to coaching him when he arrived with the team.
“I think he’s been really good for me,” Hall revealed. “When I first got here, he kind of outlined what he was expecting from me and then kind of left me alone.”
“He’s probably taken cues from his own career and different coaches that he’s had and how they treated players, how they coach players differently and communicate with guys. When it’s time to let me play or give me props or give me more ice time.”

EDMONTON – Mark Messier loves Edmonton.
Hall reveals that Brind’Amour’s coaching was one of the biggest reasons he signed an extension with the Hurricanes.
“That’s a big reason why I wanted to sign an extension here before the playoffs,” Hall stated. “I wanted to be coached by him for a longer period of time than just this season.”
Now that he’s gotten his wish, he can sit back and relish in the second-round win over the Capitals while waiting for his playoff run to continue against one of the Toronto Maple Leafs or Florida Panthers.
