Jordan Eberle continues his hot start to the season, beating Calgary in overtime on Saturday.

Calgary Flames - Former Oiler Sends Flames Home Unhappy

You can take the player out of Edmonton, but you can't take the Edmonton out of the player.

Seattle Kraken captain Jordan Eberle hasn't played for the Oilers in eight seasons, but he's still making life difficult for their provincial rivals. Eberle beat the Flames in overtime on Saturday night, handing them their first loss of the season.

Not only did Eberle fire the puck past Dan Vladar for the win, but he stripped the puck from Nazem Kadri to start the play. That game-winner gives the former Oiler goals in three straight games, and five in six to start the year. His five goals have him tied for fourth league-wide.

It's been an eventful start to the season for Eberle. Named the second captain in Kraken history as the season began, the 34-year-old Regina native notched his 300th career goal in a two-goal effort on October 12th against the Minnesota Wild.

That's the third recent milestone for Eberle; he picked up his 700th point and played in his 1000th game last season.

Eberle has plenty of experience against the Flames. He's played 49 games against Calgary in his career, putting up 17 goals and 41 points in those games. The vast majority of those came with the Oilers between 2010-11 and 2016-17. Eberle notched 14 goals and 32 points in 33 games in the Battle of Alberta before he was dealt to the New York Islanders in exchange for Ryan Strome.

One of those goals was perhaps my favourite ever by an Oiler: the first of his career, a shorthanded beauty on opening night in 2010.

Eberle's OT winner on Saturday lifts the Kraken to a 4-2-0 record to start the year, while the Flames fall to 4-0-1. The Oilers will have to wait until January 4th to get their first look at captain Eberle, when they'll visit Seattle for the first of two matchups this season.
