Edmonton Oilers are keeping their focus on one thing when the puck drops for their first game against the Los Angeles Kings.
EDMONTON -- The wait is (nearly) over.

The Edmonton Oilers begin game one against the Los Angeles Kings tonight at Rogers Place. The game is guaranteed to be spirited - and you can bet the crowd will be electric.
When it comes to the Kings, the Oilers know what they are getting. They are getting a tight-checking team that stifles offense, but they open things up when desperation kicks in.
For the Oilers, they are in this for the long haul. There are no shortcuts, secret recipes, or get-rich-quick schemes that will win them the Stanley Cup.
Corey Perry knows it better than anyone. He won the Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks, and went to three different Stanley Cup Final matchups with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Montreal Canadiens and Dallas Stars.
In today's morning skate, he laid out the very simple mentality that it takes to win. He said, "it's very exciting [but] you do have to control your emotions."
"You can't get your hopes too high, you can't get (your hopes) too low. Momentum swings and it's the little things in a series that can change a series upside down."

The Oilers will look to change their game one fortunes tonight. They have a 1-8 record in playoff game one's in the Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl era of the team.
