McDavid’s ankle, Henrique’s absence, and Dickinson’s status dominate Knoblauch’s injury updates ahead of a crucial Game 3.
Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch spoke with the media on Thursday morning, despite the Oilers having only a travel day as they head to Anaheim and get set for Game 3 of their opening round series.
There were several injury-related questions thrown Knoblauch's way, and he provided updates as best he could (or, at least as much as he was willing.)
Connor McDavid
Knoblauch says he’s not concerned about McDavid's availability for Game 3. After getting tangled up with defenseman Mattias Ekholm, McDavid went off the ice in pain, walked down the tunnel and was gone for a few minutes. He returned to finish the game.
McDavid confirmed he rolled his ankle, but told the media after the loss that it was "no big deal." Knoblauch seemed to confirm that on Thursday, saying he wasn't worried about how effective McDavid would be.
Adam Henrique
Adam Henrique remains out and will not join the Oilers on their road trip for Games 3 and 4.
Henrique collided with Kasperi Kapanen in Game 1 and left, unable to return. He was not a part of Game 2, with Josh Samanski taking his place and scoring his first-ever playoff goal.
Jason Dickinson Remains a Game-Time Decision
There is good news as Jason Dickinson is traveling with the team and may be available for Game 3 . Knoblauch said Dickinson was 50-50 in the morning for Game 2. That suggests that a couple of extra days rest is all the veteran center needs to be good to go.
