The Edmonton Oilers have a busy summer ahead of them. They have numerous free agents to re-sign in addition to finding a new General Manager after Ken Holland's exit.
Elliotte Friedman made an appearance on the Oilers Now show with Bob Stauffer yesterday. He dropped a few nuggets on a few Oilers related topics. One of those topics being a free agent who the Oilers have shown some interest in.

Friedman said this about current Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk, "I've heard a few places. I've heard Seattle (Kraken), I've heard the two Alberta teams (Oilers & Calgary Flames), I've heard quite a few places. I've heard Nashville. There's a lot of teams looking for scoring out there."

DeBrusk's two-year $4-million cap hit contract is expiring on June 30th. It appears as though he will be heading to the market come July 1st. Certainly the connection is there, with his father being an Edmonton based TV analyst.
DeBrusk would be a great middle-six option for the Oilers. He has produced 42, 50 and 40 points over the past three seasons. That comfortably places him in the $4-$5.5-million camp come July 1st.

If the Oilers go for DeBrusk, he would be the biggest free agent signing the team makes. They don't have a tremendous amount of cap space and they have numerous expiring free agents who need new deals.
