EDMONTON – When you make it back to the Stanley Cup Final, running it back isn't a bad thing.

Stan Bowman has expressed a desire to improve the goaltending and forward group. And now, it looks like a forward the Oilers brought in last year is a part of the plan moving forward.

According to PuckPedia, the Oilers are signing Kasperi Kapanen to an extension.

At the time of this writing, it appears that the deal is a one-year contract worth $1.3 million. As of right now, there is no trade protection attached to the deal.

That's another contract crossed of Bowman's to-do list after Trent Frederic signed an eight-year deal last week.
