They have cleared some cap space, in the form of trading Evander Kane to the Vancouver Canucks. They also have to figure out Evan Bouchard and Connor McDavid's contract extensions.

Elsewhere around the league, other teams are making moves. JJ Peterka was traded from the Buffalo Sabres to the Utah Mammoth for Josh Doan and Michael Kesselring (a former Oilers defender). But there is another team that is reportedly making more moves.

The Anaheim Ducks hired Joel Quenneville to be their new head coach earlier in the year. Now, it appears that a former Oilers head coach will be joining his staff.

According to a report from Frank Seravalli, Jay Woodcroft will be joining the Ducks as an assistant coach. This will be his first job in the NHL since being relieved of his duties as Oilers’ head coach back in November 2023.

Woodcroft was rumored to be interviewed for various head coaching vacancies across the NHL. If this comes to fruition, Woodcroft will learn from one of the most successful coaches in history.

    What an offseason.
