While they won't be playing in playoff action, the Edmonton Oilers are set to receive a boost ahead of a must-win Game 6 against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday.
Several players from the Bakersfield Condors are joining as Black Aces following their playoff elimination in the AHL.

Head coach Kris Knoblauch didn't name names, but hinted that he is expected to have 7–8 additional players available, including prospects like Isaac Howard, Quinn Hutson, and James Hamblin.
The reinforcements come at a crucial time, as injuries and lineup uncertainty—impacting players like Adam Henrique and Jason Dickinson—have stretched Edmonton’s depth. Connor McDavid is still banged up, but will be in the lineup for Game 6. Knoblauch did note that there were a couple of times in the series where he wasn't sure if he would be able to ice a full lineup of forwards with how many guys were questionable or game-time decisions.
That's really the point of the Black Aces -- these call-ups provide flexibility, fresh energy, and insurance if further injuries arise.
Typically, they serve as practice support, but it is possible some could see action. Hamblin’s NHL experience makes him a likely option, while younger players bring speed and offensive upside.
