The Edmonton Oilers fight off elimination once again. They defeat the Florida Panthers 5-3 on the road. Now the hockey world waits for Game six on Friday in Edmonton.

The Oilers made history on the backs of Stuart Skinner, Connor Brown and Connor McDavid. Skinner made 29 saves on 32 shots. Brown opened up the scoring with a huge goal. McDavid put up another four point night to make people rethink their Conn Smythe Trophy vote.

They are now one of four teams to ever force a Game six after being down 3-0 in a Stanley Cup Final. The Toronto Maple Leafs (1942), Detroit Red Wings (1945) and the New Jersey Devils (2012).

    But it doesn't stop there.

In the Cup Final, no other team has ever won Game five on the road when going down 3-0 in the series.

What the Oilers are doing right now is defying every statistic and probably there is. But they've been doing that all year.

They started the regular season 3-9-1. They weren't in a playoff spot at American Thanksgiving. Then they fired their head coach and every player has picked up their game since then.

None of this matters to the players right now. They only care about the next game, the next shift, the next play, the next win, and the Stanley Cup.

The cinderella story continues Friday night in Edmonton.
