Talk about kicking a team while they're down.

While the Oilers' biggest problem on Saturday was their inability to solve Jake Oettinger, the St. Louis Blues gave Oilers fans another thing to fret about. Philip Broberg -- already off to an excellent start in Missouri -- twisted the knife a little bit with an assist on Dylan Holloway's first goal with their new team.

That's Broberg's sixth point (1G, 5A) in his first six games, with one point in each game. That makes him the ninth defenceman in NHL history to start his tenure with a new team with a six-game point streak, and the first since Filip Kuba with Ottawa in 2008-09. Add that to his sparkling advanced numbers (he's been on the ice for 5 goals for and none against at 5-on-5), and he's already made the Oilers regret letting him go.

Holloway's had a rockier start to his season, but still an encouraging one. He's been shuffled around the Blues' lineup, sometimes playing on the top line with Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou, sometimes on Brayden Schenn's wing on the third line, and sometimes centering that third line himself.

His on-ice numbers on the first line are great, with an xG% of 78.3%, the second-best among all Blues line combinations. But he's certainly a passenger on that line, and his performance on the third line (xG% under 30% whether he's at wing or centre) has left a lot to be desired.

I also want to shout out another fun Blues goal from Saturday night: Mathieu Joseph scored with an assist from his younger brother Pierre-Olivier, with their parents in attendance. For those keeping track at home, that's also another +1 for Philip Broberg.

Time will tell if the Oilers truly regret not matching the Blues' twin offer sheets over the summer, but it can't be argued that their defence would look a lot better with Philip Broberg right now.

Oilers fans will have to wait a while to see Broberg and Holloway in person. Their first game against their old team comes on December 7th, when the Blues travel to Edmonton.
