Edmonton Oilers look to bounce back from their embarrassing Game 1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

The Edmonton Oilers have now played two regular season games, as the first week of the regular season schedule has played out. They have begun the year 0-2. Not the start they wanted, but that's where they are right now.

Here are all the stories you may have missed this past week, that you should pay attention to.

On Tuesday a former Oiler was traded to the Colorado Avalanche. Caleb Jones found himself traded after previously getting waived by his new team, the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Oilers opened their season on Wednesday night against the Vancouver Canucks without a vital member of their blue line - Mattias Ekholm. They lost the game in an 8-1 blow-out.

The team had two days off in between games. On the first off day, Thursday, they announced a hire in the hockey operations department. Dani Rylan Kearney was brought in as a professional scout with the organization. She most recently founded - and was commissoner - for the National Women's Hockey League.

On Friday they made two roster moves. The first involved putting Markus Niemelainen on waivers. The second one was signing Adam Erne to a one year two-way contract.

In their rematch against the Canucks they put forth a much better effort, but achieved a very similar result. They lost 4-3, two of the goals were tip-ins and one was from a 2-on-0 rush.

The Oilers are back in action on Tuesday night in Nashville.
