Edmonton Oilers have a very experienced player in their locker room.

EDMONTON -- The Stanley Cup playoffs begin tomorrow.

With the Edmonton Oilers gearing up to begin their first round series on Monday, it seems like a great time to reflect on the team's roster. Part of that is looking ahead at what is to come - as well as looking behind.

The first thing that jumps out at me for the Oilers roster is how much more playoff experience they have. Obviously everyone who returned to the roster from the previous playoff run have that much more playoff experience than what they started with in the previous year.

    Adam Henrique.

However, they have made a few additions to the team - who also have great playoff experience between them all.

Obviously one name here stands out amongst all the rest - Corey Perry.

    Corey Perry.

With 196 post season games under his belt he has the most playoff experience of any other player presently competing for a shot at the Stanley Cup. The next highest in experience is Ryan McDonagh (185 games), then Joe Pavelski (182), Victor Hedman (160), and former Oilers forward Patrick Maroon (150).

Perry has recently gone on deep playoff runs with three teams - the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning. In each of those post seasons he was on the team that fell short of winning the ultimate prize in hockey.

The Oilers are clearly hoping that Perry can bring some leadership and tenacity to the group as it pursues it's first Stanley Cup in 34 years.
