Recently, I discussed two bounce-back candidates that the Edmonton Oilers have heading into this upcoming season. Now, let's go over three players who the Oilers will be hoping to have breakout campaigns.
Philip Broberg
Philip Broberg is a player to watch very closely in 2023-24. The 2019 eighth-overall pick has the potential to become a top-four defenseman, but he is not at that point in his development just yet. However, now that he is expected to have a full-time role on their NHL roster this upcoming season, things could change on that front.
Edmonton Oilers defenseman Philip BrobergBroberg played in a career-high 46 games with the Oilers last season, posting one goal, eight points, and a plus-6 rating. Overall, it was a step in the right direction for the promising prospect but look for him to take a major step forward this campaign.
Dylan Holloway
Dylan Holloway is another promising prospect to pay close attention to from the Oilers. The 21-year-old struggled to produce last season as a rookie, recording just nine points in 51 games. However, he also played quite well in the American Hockey League (AHL), as he had 10 points in 12 games.

Holloway has the potential to become a top-six forward later down the road, and this could be the year that he takes a major step in the right direction. The Oilers selected him with the 14th overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft for a reason, after all. Let's see if he breaks out in 2023-24 from here.
Warren Foegele
Warren Foegele could be a dark horse breakout candidate for the Oilers. The 27-year-old just put together one of the best seasons of his career in 2022-23, posting 13 goals and 28 points in 67 games. He also made a clear impact during the playoffs. Thus, one has to wonder if he could take another step forward this season.
Edmonton Oilers forward Warren FoegeleFoegele will be looking to build off of his strong 2022-23 season and put together an even better one for the Oilers in 2023-24. If given more chances on the power play and penalty kill, the Markham native could have a career year for the Oilers.
