Max Wanner, Noel Hoefenmayer, and Ethan de Jong will join yesterday's cuts in Bakersfield.

The cuts are coming fast and furious now.
After sending nine players to Bakersfield yesterday, they announced three more cuts this morning. Defencemen Max Wanner and Noel Hoefenmayer, along with forward Ethan de Jong, were today's casualties.
Wanner, the team's 7th-round draft pick in 2021, played 68 games in Bakersfield last season. He was the Oilers' number one defenceman at the Young Stars Classic after Beau Akey's injury and kept up his strong training camp in two pre-season games.
The 21-year-old Wanner moves well for a 6'3" defender, with good instincts on both sides of the puck. A successful second year in the AHL would put the big righty in a position to win an NHL spot next season. Considering that he was selected with the 212th overall draft pick, Wanner can already be called a developmental success.
He'll be joined in Bakersfield by left-shot defender Noel Hoefenmayer. Signed by the Oilers last summer coming off a 38-point campaign with the Toronto Marlies, Hoefenmayer got into 47 games with the Condors last season.
Hoefenmayer was an offensive star in juniors with the Ottawa 67's and showed some offensive promise during the pre-season. His best game was his last, on Wednesday against the Winnipeg Jets when he was noticeable all over the ice against NHL players. Hoefenmayer is a longshot for NHL minutes but should get a bigger role in Bakersfield in 2024-25.
Also heading to Bakersfield is forward Ethan de Jong, who was in camp on a PTO. The 25-year-old de Jong spent most of last year with the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL, scoring 29 points in 41 games. De Jong signed with the Condors last summer after a long college career with Quinnipiac.
After these cuts, the Oilers have 40 players on their training camp roster.
