The Battle of Alberta found its way into the rookie ranks. This Young Stars Classic game featured seven penalties against each team. The Edmonton Oilers scored three power play goals while the Calgary Flames scored twice - the second being the game winner in overtime.

Flames prospect Matt Coronato scored the 3-2 goal with 11:37 left in the third period. It was the first power play goal for the Flames. Three minutes after falling behind - Matvey Petrov of the Oilers would connect on a one-timer that found it's way into the net, forcing overtime. Petrov was the Oilers' best player in a lot of ways during the game.

"It felt like a real game out there. It was a heavy, physical game, and it was a tight game," said Colin Chaulk, the Oilers' rookie coach and Head Coach of the Bakersfield Condors. "He (Petrov) made some nice plays on the power play. He sees some ice, he shoots the puck, and he makes some backdoor sneaky passes."

The Oilers rookies will take Sunday off after playing on back-to-back nights. The final game will be against the Vancouver Canucks rookies on Monday September 18th.
