The Florida Panthers will play the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference final. Last night, the Colorado Avalanche were defeated by the Dallas Stars.
The Stars won Game six by a score of 2-1. Matt Duchene played the hero - by scoring his second goal of the playoffs at 11:42 of the second overtime period on a controversial call.

Both teams were playing their hearts out - the Stars just came out on top. Both teams blocked 35 shots a piece, which is a testament to each teams' will to win.
The Stars had the edge in shots (38-30) while the Avalanche out-hit (59-44) their opponent. The Avalanche also gave away the puck 20 times to the Stars 10 giveaways.

Either the Vancouver Canucks or the Oilers will play the Stars for the Western Conference final. If it's the Oilers, it won't be the first time they've played their Western Conference opponent in the post season.
In the late 1990's and early 2000's it felt like these two teams met every year in the playoffs. The most memorable meeting came in the opening round of the 1997 playoffs - where they beat them in seven games.

Todd Marchant played the hero by scoring the overtime winner - and Curtis Joseph recorded two shutouts in that series, becoming the first goalie in Oilers' history to accomplish that feat.
For the Oilers, they must win tonight to have a chance to advance to the next round.
