The Edmonton Oilers have made considerable hay today. Connor Brown, Corey Perry, Viktor Arvidsson, and Josh Brown are a few of the players who have new contracts with the Oilers.

As far as other teams are concerned, the Detroit Red Wings have signed a couple former Oilers.

Cam Talbot signed a two-year $2.5-million cap hit contract. He spent the past year playing for the Los Angeles Kings. In 54 games he had a 27-20-6 record to go along with a 2.50 goals against average (GAA) and a .913 save percentage (SV%).

Just yesterday, the Oilers put Jack Campbell on waivers. Today, he finds himself close to home with a new contract with the Red Wings as well. He agreed to a one-year $775,000 contract.

Campbell only played five games in the NHL last year, posting a 4.50 GAA and a .873 SV%. He found his footing later on in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors. He finished his time there with an 18-13-1 record with three shutouts. He also had a 2.63 GAA and a .918 SV%.

The Red Wings now have Ville Husso, Alex Lyon, Talbot and Campbell signed for next season. It certainly feels like something has to give.

Time will tell how these signings will affect the Red Wings goaltending situation. One way or another, their desire to compete this season is evident.
