The Edmonton Oilers aren't the only team looking to make moves today. The Tampa Bay Lightning have already announced a contract extension for the recently acquired Jake Guentzel. It's a seven year deal worth $9-million per year.

There are now reports of Connor Brown signing an extension with the Oilers. According to PuckPedia, it will be a one-year deal worth $1-million.

Nothing has been confirmed yet by the team. However, PuckPedia reported that Alexandre Texier signed with the St. Louis Blues before anyone else.

Brown took a while to find his stride with the Oilers this past season. He finished the year with 71 games played, four goals and 12 points. He was an integral part of the Oilers penalty kill all season long.

He elevated his game in the playoffs tremendously. Brown and Mattias Janmark became a dangerous penalty killing duo, resulting in several shorthanded goals in the postseason.

The contract he signed last year came with a $3.225-million games played bonus that will carry into the 2024-25 season.

Brown should have a better season next year. Having a whole summer to train instead of rehab will be hugely beneficial for the forward.

Barring a trade, the Oilers have $11.933-million in remaining cap space to sign free agents. There is still a lot of work left to do for the Oilers brass.

*Update: The Oilers have officially confirmed Brown's new contract.
