EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers have done it.

For the third straight post season the Oilers have defeated the Los Angeles Kings in the opening round of the playoffs. In 2022 it was in seven games, last year it was in six, this year it only took five games.
At the center of that were the two best players in the world - Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Both players had tremendous games last night.
McDavid had two assists to go along with four shots and one hit in 23:36 of time. Draisaitl netted two goals, six shots, and one hit in 24:24 of work.
Number 29's game really stood out last night - to everyone in the press box, but also to the captain. During his post game comments McDavid had nothing but praise for his partner in crime, "winning big draws, out there in big moments, winning a big battle at the end of the game - to not only get the puck out, but [to] draw a penalty."

"Those are huge things. He's a big man and when he's got his feet moving and he's playing hard on both sides of the puck - there's not many guys better than him in the whole world."
McDavid continues, "it's impressive to watch. He always seems to bring that game this time of year."

Both players bring that intensity this time of year - as McDavid and Draisaitl are the top two scorers in the playoffs so far. McDavid has 12 points and Draisaitl has 10.
Now they have to play the waiting game to see which team they face off against next.
