EDMONTON -- Down but not out.
The Edmonton Oilers will pick up where they left off tomorrow morning. They kick off a five-game road swing on the East Coast, beginning with a morning tilt against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Elsewhere in the NHL, two players who were put on waivers yesterday have cleared. Tyson Barrie and Dennis Cholowski were put on waivers by the Calgary Flames and New York Islanders, respectively.
Barrie has a rough go since leaving the Oilers organization. The 33-year-old hasn't been able to gain a stranglehold on a powerplay since his success with the man advantage in Edmonton.
In 13 games, he's only produced three points. While offense isn't everything, Barrie draws on his offense for confidence. The AHL is a great place to rebuild that belief in himself.
Before the Flames, Barrie dressed in 65 games for the Nashville Predators. He accumulated 27 points in his tenure there.
This was a far cry from his most-productive season. In 2018-19, he recorded 59 points while playing in 78 games with the Colorado Avalanche.
He may be down in the AHL, but there's still a chance he can climb back into the NHL.
