Matt Savoie was traded to the Edmonton Oilers from the Buffalo Sabres. This piqued some curiosity regarding Carter Savoie, Matt's brother, because the Oilers elected to not give him a qualifying offer.

Others thought that with Matt now in the fold, perhaps there was a way forward with Carter. That proved to not be the case. Last Friday Carter signed a one-year contract with TPS of Liiga.

This deal officially closed any door back to the Oilers this season. But Carter is afforded an opportunity to prove his worth. If he can take this chance and produce at a good rate while playing in Finland, an NHL team could take a swing at him for next season.

Earlier today, Carter visited his new team's facilities and met some teammates and other members of the organization.

The above tweet shows a video of Carter arriving at the TPS facilities. He meets a few staff members, gets a lay of the land, and eventually meets a few of his new teammates.

This won't be the first time that Carter has played outside of Canada. He spent two years playing for the University of Denver in the NCAA. He collected 65 points in 63 games in that time.
