The Edmonton Oilers will become the last team to play against this iteration of the Arizona Coyotes at Mullet Arena. This is the second last game of the regular season for the Oilers.

While one chapter in the NHL is closing - another is blowing wide open. Two nights ago Connor McDavid became the fourth player in NHL history to record 100 assists in a single season. McDavid assisted on the Oilers ninth goal of the night in a 9-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks.

Tonight, another player is keeping him company.

Nikita Kucherov has etched his own name in the record books - with his 100th assist of the season. He is officially the fifth player to achieve this feat in the NHL.

    Nikita Kucherov.

In addition to the 100th assist he scored his 44th goal at 6:14 of the first period - to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 2-0 lead on the Toronto Maple Leafs. It's the final game of the regular season for both teams.

This is only the second time in the history of the league that two players have reached the 100 assist plateau in the same season. The last time it happened was back in 1988-89 when Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux both recorded 114 assists.
