( < 50% rostered on Yahoo, ranked by matchup)

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, BUF vs. STL (47% rostered)

This is an awkward matinee start but still benefits the East Coast team more. Luukkonen has been very good in 2024, having kept all of his opponents to three goals or less. It wasn't his fault the Sabres mustered just one goal on 48 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Stars. With 28 saves on 30 shots, it was Luukkonen's third straight game with a save percentage of at least .914. I'm pretty confident in Luukkonen right now, even though the Blues have been trending up. I think both a good save percentage and a win are very possible.

Samuel Ersson, PHI vs. SEA (40% rostered)

Ersson has been excellent for two straight games now, and now facing an easier opponent than the Panthers and Jets, I'm a little perplexed why he's gone from 40 percent rostered from 45 percent rostered. The break was much needed after Ersson allowed 15 goals in four prior games, and the Kraken will need to shake off a lot of rust playing their first game since the All-Star Game. We've seen how teams have struggled to score just coming out of the break. I like this matchup for Ersson quite a bit.

Samuel Montembeault, MTL vs. DAL (25% rostered)

Montembeault gets his second straight start after a 37-save performance against the Caps, his second win a row. Saturday nights in Montreal usually bodes well for the Habs' chances, but note the Stars are excellent on the road. I think there's enough upset potential here for me to start Montembeault, but I'd be banking more on a good save percentage than a win. Alex Newhook is expected to play, who will provide a little more goal support.

Nico Daws, NJ at CAR (5% rostered)

This one gives me a lot of pause because the Devils have been floundering and lost 5-3 in Jack Hughes' return to the lineup, and the Canes have been really surging after a tough start to the season. Daws has not won a game since Jan. 13 and allowed nine goals in his past two starts. Daws definitely possesses a lot of upside, but it's so hard to trust young goalies and I'd just shy away from this unless you really want to roll the dice.

David Rittich, LA vs. EDM (19% rostered)

Cam Talbot could get the start, but I don't think either him or Rittich will make much of a difference. The Oilers are way better, even if they're playing the second game of a back-to-back. There may be an emotional boost from Jim Hiller's debut behind the bench, so the upset potential is there, but the general rule of thumb in fantasy: If you're not sure, it's just better to sit any goalie facing Connor McDavid.

Charlie Lindgren, WSH at BOS (33% rostered)

The shine on Lindgren's wearing off a little bit, having allowed 17 goals in his past four appearances with the Caps mired in a six-game losing streak. Lindgren was pulled in  his previous start against the Habs after allowing three goals on six shots, and Darcy Kuemper lost against the Panthers in the subsequent game. That likely means Lindgren gets the start, and he'll be facing arguably the best team in the East in the Bruins, who previously shut out the Canucks, 4-0. The Caps' offense pales in comparison to the Canucks', and you wonder how much goal support Lindgren will get, if at all.

Elvis Merzlikins, CLB vs. TB (21% rostered)

Merzlikins is coming off a shutout performance, though keep in mind he only needed to make 21 saves and it was against the Blues. This will be the Jackets' first game following the break, and we've seen teams struggle to score right after. The Jackets have lost five of their past seven meetings and allowed 30 goals against the Lightning.
