Spencer Martin has been pushing for more playing time but Merzlikins should start. Though he allowed three goals on 30 shots in his most recent start against the Habs, his play has been trending up after a slow start to the season. The Sens are a tricky opponent because they’ve got plenty of scoring talent and they should be well-rested after a three-day break. I’d be wary of starting Merzlikins against them; despite the Jackets being at home, the Sens should be favored, albeit slightly. At best, you’re getting some saves but a good save percentage and a win? It’s a coin flip.
Kaapo Kahkonen, SJ at NJ (2% rostered)
Both teams are playing the second game of a back-to-back but there’s no question Kahkonen is only worth streaming if you really, really need a start. The Devils offense has come alive upon Jack Hughes’ return, and Kahkonen’s numbers have been ugly all season. He’s won just twice in eight starts this season and since Hughes joined the Devils, the Sharks have only won once in regulation in their past six meetings.
