NHL All-Star team captains will select their super-squads during a player draft on Thursday night
The 2024 NHL All-Star weekend kicks off on Thursday night from Toronto.
A pair of Florida Panthers, Sam Reinhart and Sergei Bobrovsky, were selected as NHL All-Stars this season and will be there representing the Cats and taking part in all the festivities.
On Thursday, that means being a part of the NHL All-Star Player Draft and finding out who they’ll be teamed up with for the big game on Saturday.
The All-Star draft begins at 6 p.m. from Scotiabank Arena and will air nationally on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
Previously chosen captains and their co-captains will select their teams from the remaining field of 28 skaters and eight goaltenders.
Those captains are Connor McDavid with Leon Draisaitl, Auston Matthews with Morgan Reilly, Nathan MacKinnon with Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes with his brother Jack Hughes.
Each group of captains will make their selections in regular draft format until every player has been chosen.
We’ll see how quickly Reinhart, one of the NHL’s premiere goal scorers this season, and Bobrovsky, known around the league an elite playoff performer, are taken off the board.
NHL Network hosted a All-Star Mock Draft earlier this week to give us an idea of how things may go on Thursday.
