Florida scored three power play goals during their impressive comeback victory over the Stars
The Comeback Cats are alive and well.
After falling into a deep hole against the high-scoring Dallas Stars on Tuesday night, the Florida Panthers dug in their heels and began clawing away.
Erasing a three-goal deficit, the Panthers earned an emotional 4-3 victory in Dallas and continued their march toward the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Things may have ended on a high note for Florida, but they sure didn't start that way.
A defensive breakdown in the neutral zone led to the Stars first goal. Joe Pavelski found himself with the puck on his stick and on a 2-on-0 with Jason Robertson, beating Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky to put Dallas up 1-0 less than four minutes into the game.

If not for Bobrovsky's brilliance during the opening period – he made 14 saves, including seven high-danger shots – Florida would have found itself down big early in this one.
Instead, they went down big midway through the game, thanks to goals 23 seconds apart by Jason Robertson and Wyatt Johnson.
One came on a third rebound on the power play and the other was on a gorgeous deflection from the top of the goal crease. In other words: not much to pin on the goaltender in terms of fault.
And then the comeback was on.
Sam Reinhart picked up another power play goal, his 26th of the season, to cut the Stars lead to 3-1 with just over seven minutes to go in the middle frame.
That would be how the score would remain until about midway through the third period.
Sasha Barkov got his stick on a Carter Verhaeghe wrister while on the power play to make it 3-2 Dallas, and then less than three minutes later Sam Bennett deflected a Matthew Tkachuk point shot past Stars goalie Jake Oettinger to tie the score at three.
New Dallas defenseman Chris Tanev took a tripping penalty moments later and Barkov would find the back of the net exactly 38 seconds after Bennett tied the game.
Holy hell, what a turnaround in Dallas.
Bobrovsky and the Panthers shut down the Stars from there, completing a thrilling comeback for Florida's NHL-best 24th road win of the season.
On to Carolina.
Here are some thoughts and observations from Tuesday's battle in Dallas:
Reinhart is up to 46 goals on the season. He's scored seven times over his past seven games.
Sasha Barkov is up to five goals and 11 points over his past seven games after logging two goals and the primary assist on Reinhart's power play goal.
Matthew Tkachuk picked up a trio of assists, giving him seven helpers over his past four outings.
Tkachuk has not scored a goal since Feb. 27, a stretch of seven games. It's the longest he's gone without a goal since late December.
Florida scored three of its four goals on the power play, going 3-for-4 while up a man while killing four of the Stars five power plays.
Bobrovsky had gone 12 consecutive starts without allowing more than two goals, a streak that dated back to Jan. 19.
