The three-time Stanley Cup champion faces charges of domestic violence and unauthorized use of 911 services, prompting the organization to bar him from all facilities during the investigation.
A member of the Florida Panthers has been arrested and subsequently suspended by the team.
Panthers Head Equipment Manager Teddy Richards was taken into custody on Friday in Coral Springs.
He is facing a charge of domestic violence and a charge of unauthorized use of 911 services.
As of Friday evening, Richards was being held at the Broward Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale. He will likely see a Broward County bond court judge over the weekend.
The Panthers released a statement on Friday in regard to Richards’ arrest, which read:
“The Florida Panthers organization has been made aware of an incident involving the arrest of Equipment Manager Teddy Richards. Effective immediately, he will be suspended from all team activities and facilities pending investigation.”
Richards has been with the franchise since the 2016-17 season, previously working with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
He’s been a part of three Stanley Cup championships, including two in Florida in 2024 and 2025 and one in Pittsburgh in 2016.
Additionally, Richards has been a regular member USA Hockey's equipment staff, most recently at the 4 Nations Face-Off, the 2026 Winter Olympics and the 2026 IIHF World Championship.
