One of the newest members of the Florida Panthers is having some fun during his summer training regimen.

Defenseman Nate Schmidt signed with Florida on July 3, hoping to chase a Stanley Cup while reuniting with Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice, who coached Schmidt in Winnipeg.

A native of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Schmidt has also been seen over the years at Da Beauty League, a summer league made up mostly of collegiate and professional players from Minnesota and its surrounding areas.

This season Schmidt is the captain of the TRIA squad, and on Wednesday they faced Team Element.

While TRIA dropped its second game of the summer season, Schmidt had quite a night.

He scored four goals on Wednesday, giving him six in TRIA’s two games so far.

Schmidt is far from the only Panthers connection to Da Beauty League.

Also taking part this summer are Erik Haula, Kyle Rau, Nick Bjugstad, Dominic Toninato, Mike Reilly and Ben Steeves.
