Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports - Panthers forward Sam Reinhart named NHL's Third Star of the Week

Sam Reinhart is off to quite a start this season.

Over his past four games, Reinhart has racked up 6 goals and 8 points, leading the Florida Panthers in both categories.

On Monday, the NHL recognized Reinhart for what he’s done over the past week.

Florida played three games in the past seven days, with Reinhart scoring 5 goals and adding an assist while helping the Panthers to a 2-1-0 record.

As a result, Reinhart was named the NHL’s Third Star of the Week.

Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice spoke about Reinhart following the team’s practice on Monday morning at Amerant Bank Arena.

“He’s an elite processor of the game. If you want to know what happened, you just have to talk to him,” Maurice began. “He can tell you what the other team is doing and what your team is doing. He’s a hyper competitive guy, too. A quiet man, but very, very competitive in the way he plays and the way he prepares. He came to camp in incredible shape this year. So he really does all things, and a lot of them are just really smart things to do. He's very easy to play with.”

Detroit’s Alex DeBrincat (5 goals and 3 assists in four games) and Colorado’s Alexander Georgiev (3-0-0, 1.67 GAA, .940 save percentage, 1 shutout) were named the Second and Third Stars of the Week, respectively.

Reinhart and the Panthers will be back in action on Tuesday night when they host the San Jose Sharks.
