On Wednesday, the Florida Panthers placed forward Ryan McAllister on waivers for the purpose of contract termination, per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman

The 24-year-old was skating in his third season with the Panthers organization since signing an entry-level contract in 2023. The Panthers signed McAllister after his freshman season in the NCAA with Western Michigan, where he scored an impressive 13 goals and 49 points in 36 games.

Following signing his contract, McAllister went on to play 72 games in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers, scoring 18 goals and 46 points. His rookie year witnessed him notch eight goals and 19 points in 37 games, but his second season was cut short by injuries. He played just 16 games but recorded seven goals and 15 points.

Fast forward to this season, and his production has fallen off. He’s mustered just two goals and seven points in 15 games, and briefly played in the ECHL with the Savannah Ghost Pirates, participating in two games.

McAllister was one of three players placed on waivers for the purpose of contract termination, as the St. Louis Blues released defenseman Samuel Johannesson and the Pittsburgh Penguins released goaltender Filip Larsson

What’s next for McAllister remains unknown, but the Panthers have cleared up a roster spot for next season.
