Broward County prosecutors have dropped domestic violence charges against Teddy Richards after the victim declined to cooperate.
Criminal charges have been dropped against Florida Panthers Head Equipment Manager Teddy Richards.
The decision was announced on Wednesday by the Broward County State Attorney’s Office.
According to the filing from prosecutors, the victim in the case, Richards’ wife, “filed a sworn waiver of prosecution and will not cooperate.”
The incident in question happened on July 16, when police said they responded to a 911 call at the couple’s home in Coral Springs.
According to authorities, Richards’ wife accused him of flirting with a friend at a birthday party earlier in the day and threw water at him, which led to a physical altercation in which he allegedly struck her multiple times.
Richards was taken into custody and charged with domestic violence and depriving the use of 911, both misdemeanors.
After the arrest, the Panthers released a statement saying the team was aware of the incident and that Richards “will be suspended from all team activities and facilities pending investigation.”
THN Florida has reached out to the Panthers to see if anything has changed in regard to Richards’ suspension following the decision by the Broward SAO.
